Wranglers Ready
For Makawao Rodeo

The 16th annual Fourth of July Rodeo is scheduled for this weekend.

Festivities begin Saturday (July 3) at 10:30 a.m. when the Makawao Parade works its way from the Eddie Tam Memorial Center through the center of town, down to the Veterans' Cemetery and back to the crossroads. Over one hundred horses and riders are expected to participate.

The event itself will get underway Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Makawao Arena. Events include bull riding, calf roping, bareback bronc riding, team roping, wahine barrel racing and steer mugging. Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for kids 12 and under.

Sunday, the Makawao Junior Sports Jamboree will be held at Makawao Park from 9-11:30 a.m. Events include bicycle decorating, bicycle race, treasure hunt, a pass,punt and kick contest and a greased pig contest.

Members of the L.A. Rams will be on hand to judge the pass, punt and kick contest. Winner of the event will be given a free trip to Los Angeles to watch the Rams in action.

Finals, a continuation of Saturday's schedule, will be held Sunday afternoon at the Makawao Arena, beginning at 1 p.m.
